How much does Glucose Please cost?
Nothing. Glucose Please is free, with no ads, subscriptions, or in-app purchases.
What do I need to run Glucose Please?
A Mac running macOS 14 Sonoma or later, and either a Dexcom account with Share turned on or a LibreLinkUp account with an accepted sharing connection.
Can I use Glucose Please on Windows?
No. Glucose Please is only available for Mac.
Which Dexcom systems are supported?
Dexcom G6, G7, and ONE, through Dexcom Share. Share must be turned on in the Dexcom mobile app with at least one invitation sent. You can send it to yourself, and you don't need to accept it.
Which FreeStyle Libre systems are supported?
FreeStyle Libre 2, Libre 2 Plus, Libre 3, and Libre 3 Plus, through LibreLinkUp. The original FreeStyle Libre and FreeStyle Libre 14 day systems also work where their phone app supports LibreLinkUp sharing. Accept the sharing invitation and confirm that readings appear in LibreLinkUp before signing in. Automatic updates depend on your sensor, phone app, and country; scan-based setups update only when a scan uploads readings.
Is Guardian supported?
No, Guardian is not supported at this stage.
Is Glucose Please made by Dexcom or Abbott?
No. Glucose Please is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Dexcom or Abbott.
Does Glucose Please connect directly to my sensor?
No. Your sensor phone app uploads readings to Dexcom or Abbott, and your Mac fetches them directly from the corresponding sharing service. Your phone must upload readings successfully, and your Mac must be awake and online. A standalone reader does not provide this cloud connection.
How often does the menu bar update with new glucose readings?
Glucose Please checks around every five minutes for Dexcom readings and every minute for LibreLinkUp readings, allowing time for cloud delivery. Actual freshness depends on the sensor, phone app, connection, and service availability; checking every minute does not make a scan-based Libre setup continuous.
Can I use Glucose Please instead of my sensor app, or to make treatment decisions?
No. Glucose Please is an extra way to see readings, not a replacement for your sensor app. Follow your sensor manufacturer's guidance and confirm readings with your primary sensor app, receiver, or blood glucose meter before making treatment decisions. Do not use Glucose Please for treatment or dosing decisions.
Can Glucose Please alert me about highs and lows?
Yes. You can turn on alerts for low and high thresholds and for rapid drops and rises, repeat low alerts, set quiet hours, and snooze alerts from the menu bar. Alerts rely on readings reaching the sharing service and on your Mac being awake and online, so they can be delayed or missed. Keep your primary sensor app's alerts turned on.
What are Insights?
Insights summarise the last 14, 30, or 90 days, including time in range, average glucose, an ambulatory glucose profile (AGP), and estimated GMI, once enough history has been saved. Saving history is off until you turn it on in Settings, and saved history is encrypted on your Mac. Estimated GMI is calculated from sensor readings and is not a lab HbA1c result.
Is my data secure?
Your Dexcom or LibreLinkUp credentials are stored in macOS Keychain and are sent only to the corresponding provider. Your Mac fetches readings directly from Dexcom or Abbott. Readings, saved history, and insights never reach our servers. The app sends a daily pseudonymous heartbeat so we can count active installs, and feedback is only sent if you choose to send it. Can I use Glucose Please to follow someone else, like my child?
Yes. For Dexcom, use the account of the person wearing the sensor with Share turned on; Dexcom Follow logins do not work. For Libre, use your LibreLinkUp account after accepting their invitation. If you follow multiple people, choose whose readings to show. Glucose Please displays one person at a time.
Why can't I sign in?
For Dexcom, use the sensor wearer's account, turn on Share, send at least one invitation, and choose the correct region. For Libre, sign in to LibreLinkUp on your phone, verify your email address, accept any updated terms, accept the sharing invitation, and confirm that readings appear. Use that LibreLinkUp email and password in Glucose Please; its region is detected automatically.
Can I customise target ranges, units, or the graph window?
Yes. Open Settings from the menu bar to switch between mmol/L and mg/dL, pick your low and high glucose thresholds, and choose a 1-, 3-, 6-, 12-, or 24-hour graph window. The menu bar graph automatically reflects those choices.
What happens if I lose connectivity or my provider stops sending data?
The app automatically retries, re-authenticates, and waits for the network to return. If the sharing service stays unreachable, it clearly labels the status and keeps polling until it can recover.
How much glucose history can I see?
Dexcom Share can provide up to 24 hours of recent history; LibreLinkUp provides up to 12 hours. A longer graph window may contain gaps. Optional saved history builds Insights over time, but cannot recover readings that are no longer available from your provider.
How do I get updates?
Glucose Please checks for updates automatically and shows when one is available in its menu. To have updates installed for you, turn on "Automatically download and install updates" in Settings.
